Are your employees happy?
Apparently, more than half of all employees in the U.S. are not. A recent What's Working survey from Mercer showed that nearly 1 in 3 U.S. workers is seriously considering leaving their organizations, up from 23 percent in 2005. Another 21 percent are not looking to leave, but view their employers unfavorably and have "rock-bottom scores" on key measures of engagement.

Engagement as defined by the survey is a combination of an employee's loyalty, commitment and motivation.
So what does this mean for you? Well, if your employees fall in this group, it could not only mean that you will retain fewer good employees, but for those that do stick around, it may affect overall business performance – especially as companies continue to do more with less.
According to the survey, scores are down consistently across key engagement measures while intention to leave is up across all employee segments, with the youngest workers most likely to be eyeing a departure.
So what can you do to measure employee sentiment? Merger says it is important to take the pulse of employees to identify specific areas of concern before they become a "full-blown issue."
