The Manitowoc Company Inc. (NYSE: MTW), Manitowoc, WI, reported sales for the third quarter of $1 billion, an increase of 7.1 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Profit was $52.9 million, compared to a year-ago profit of $22.2 million.
Third-quarter sales in the crane segment were $612.6 million, up 10.4 percent from the third quarter of 2012, driven primarily by continued growth in the Americas region as a result of increased crawler crane activity, as well as ongoing success with Manitowoc Crane Care, the company's aftermarket product support solution.
Third-quarter sales in the foodservice segment were $401.9 million, an increase of 2.4 percent from in the third quarter of 2012. The increase was driven by growth in the Americas and EMEA regions, complemented by continued traction from new products.
For the first nine months, sales were $3 billion, an increase of 5.8 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Profit was $120.9 million, compared to a year-ago profit of $67.2 million.
