Owens & Minor, Inc. (NYSE: OMI), Richmond, VA, reported sales for the third quarter were $2.18 billion, an increase of 5.5 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 5.9 percent to $33.4 million.

For the nine months ended Sept. 30, 2011, sales were $6.43 billion, up 6.3 percent when compared to the same period of 2010. Profit increased 2.8 percent to $91.3 million.
