Concord, NH-based The Granite Group announced June 1 that it has expanded its Northeast footprint with two acquisitions and a new branch opening in Maine.
Hynes Plumbing Supply
The plumbing, heating, cooling, piping, water systems and energy products distributor acquired Hynes Plumbing Supply in Plattsburgh, NY, marking The Granite Group’s entry into the state.
Hynes Plumbing Supply was launched four years ago by owner John Hynes next to his family’s electrical supply company, which has operated since 1955. The Granite Group said the Plattsburgh building has housed plumbing, heating and cooling distribution businesses under various ownership for more than 20 years.
“As our business grew, it became clear there was an opportunity to do more for our customers,” Hynes said in the company’s announcement. “The Granite Group brings the scale, resources and shared values to help us take that next step for customers.”
The Granite Group said the acquisition will add expanded inventory and e-commerce capabilities to the operation while creating a one-stop destination for contractors by combining Hynes’ family electrical supply business with The Granite Group’s plumbing, heating and cooling offering under one roof.
P&E Supply
The company also acquired P&E Supply — a Sanford, ME-based distributor founded in 1982 by Master Plumber Harry Kenney. The business serves contractors and homeowners in the region and includes a kitchen and bath showroom.
P&E has been led for the past couple of decades by Paul Kenney and his wife Debbie.
“We’re proud of what we’ve built at P&E and the relationships we’ve developed over the years,” Paul Kenney said. “Joining The Granite Group allows us to continue that legacy while giving our customers access to greater resources, broader inventory and new capabilities.”
New Maine Branch
The Granite Group also announced it is opening a new branch in Caribou, ME, in June. The company said the location will support local contractors and the surrounding community.
“This is an exciting time for The Granite Group,” CEO Bill Condron said. “Our growth is driven by great people and strong local businesses that share our commitment to customers. Whether through acquisitions or new branches, we’re focused on building on that foundation and bringing even greater value to the markets we serve.”
Founded in 1971 and headquartered in Concord, The Granite Group operates more than 75 wholesale branches across the Northeast, as well as 20 retail showrooms.
