Vandalia, OH-based motion and control products distributor Triad Technologies announced Oct. 4 that it acquired Filtration Corporation of America (FCA), expanding its capabilities in aviation and fuel filtration. The transaction closed Oct. 1. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1976 and headquartered in Glen Ellyn, IL, FCA distributes filtration and fueling system components to aviation service providers, storage terminals, equipment manufacturers and airports ranging from local facilities to major international hubs. Its offerings include aviation filtration systems, filter vessels, fuel testing equipment, petroleum handling equipment, pressure control valves and aircraft refueling nozzles.
Triad President and CEO Greg Wissman said the acquisition advances the company’s planned expansion in filtration, adding technical expertise and Parker Hannifin-owned brands, including Velcon and Meggitt.
“Filtration is an area we have been deliberate about expanding, and FCA gives us both the product breadth and the technical depth to do it well,” Triad President and CEO Greg Wissman said. “FCA has spent nearly five decades earning the trust of the aviation fueling community, and pairing that reputation with Triad’s distribution platform allows us to deliver a wider range of filtration and fluid handling solutions than either company could provide on its own.”
Wissman added that he expects Triad to continue to expand its filtration business in the coming years through additional investments and acquisitions.
FCA will retain its name and operate as a division of Triad. Its existing team and customer relationships will remain in place, with no immediate changes to contact information, invoicing or purchasing processes.
FCA co-owners Gordon Tompkinson and Brian Tompkinson said joining Triad gives customers access to a broader product portfolio and additional technical resources. The company was founded in 1976 by their father.
Triad operates 33 locations across Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Kentucky. It distributes hydraulic, pneumatic, electromechanical, filtration, sealing and lubrication technologies, supported by services that include system design, field service, hose assembly and repair.
The company partnered with private equity firm Shorehill Capital in October 2019. Its latest deal is its first acquisition announcement since the September 2023 purchase announcement of Tech-Syn, an Illinois-based distributor of seals, O-rings, hoses and fittings with additional locations in Rockford, IL, and Milwaukee.
