Wesco International announced Oct. 15 the opening of its first technology deployment center in Irving, Texas, expanding its ability to deliver preassembled, tested infrastructure for AI-ready data centers.
The Pittsburgh-based company — North America’s largest electrical supplies distributor by revenue — said the facility enables integrators and contractors to move labor-intensive, quality-sensitive work from customer jobsites into a controlled environment. Equipment can be assembled, configured, integrated and tested before shipment, with the aim of shortening construction schedules, lowering installation costs and reducing deployment risk.
Primarily serving data center customers, the center provides design and engineering, rack layouts, network and server integration, cable management, power and thermal management, liquid-cooling support and full-power burn-in testing. Customers can receive fully integrated racks ready for onsite connection.

“Technology deployments are becoming larger, more complex and more time-sensitive, particularly in the data center market. By moving critical assembly, integration and testing work upstream, we’re helping customers deploy infrastructure faster, reduce risk and achieve greater consistency across large-scale projects,” said Dirk Naylor, executive vice president and general manager of Wesco’s Communications & Security Solutions business. “This investment further strengthens Wesco’s position as both a leading distributor and a trusted services partner.”
Wesco said the capabilities address labor shortages and increasingly complex deployments, with applications extending to enterprise security, professional audiovisual systems and multisite technology rollouts.
Wesco did not disclose the facility’s size, investment amount or staffing.
“Customers increasingly need more than products delivered to a jobsite. They require materials and equipment that arrive deployment-ready to address labor shortages, accelerate schedules and improve predictability by enabling more work to be completed in a controlled environment,” Naylor added. “Whether supporting a data center, an enterprise deployment of converging technologies such as security and pro A/V, or a complex technology rollout for multiple sites, these facilities help customers move faster from delivery to activation.”
The opening follows Wesco’s record 2Q26 sales of $6.67 billion, up 13% year-over-year. Wesco Data Center Solutions grew approximately 45%, while companywide backlog increased about 60%.
Wesco also completed its approximately $136 million acquisition of Singapore-based Newark Engineering July 1, adding data center cooling and lifecycle services capabilities in Southeast Asia. It will report 3Q26 results Oct. 29.
MDM Analysis
The Irving center signals Wesco’s intent to capture more of the work surrounding data center construction. Assembly, integration and testing place the distributor deeper into project execution, where its contribution increasingly includes how quickly and reliably infrastructure becomes operational.
That expands the basis for customer relationships beyond product availability and delivery. Helping contractors manage labor constraints and receive deployment-ready racks could make Wesco more difficult to replace and create additional service revenue opportunities.
Combined with Newark’s cooling capabilities, the investment illustrates how Wesco is building technical services around the products it distributes. It also raises execution demands: performing integration and testing requires specialized talent, consistent processes and accountability for system readiness.
The opportunity is a larger role in customers’ infrastructure spending. Whether that translates into stronger returns will depend on service economics and execution — neither of which the facility announcement quantifies.
