Airline Hydraulics Corporation — a Bensalem, PA-based distributor of industrial automation, fluid power and controls solutions — announced June 2 that it has acquired Industrial Automation Supply.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Portland, ME-based IAS serves OEMs and contract manufacturers across New England. Airline said the acquisition expands its New England presence and strengthens its controls capabilities. IAS was founded in 1993.
“Adding IAS meaningfully rounds out our business in New England,” Airline CEO Mark Steffens said in the announcement. “Their deep expertise in controls, combined with Airline’s long-standing strengths in fluid power, automation and engineered solutions, creates a partnership many companies only aspire to achieve.”

Airline said the former IAS headquarters in Portland will continue operating as an IAS division of Airline, with the IAS brand and local presence maintained during the transition. About 30 IAS employees are expected to join Airline. The location adds 6,000 square feet of value-added services, distribution and production space, nearly doubling Airline’s New England footprint.
Airline said it also plans to add 10 positions to strengthen customer support and technical resources.
Founded in 1949, Airline Hydraulics is a 100% employee-owned industrial technology provider serving the Eastern U.S. The company supplies hydraulics, pneumatics and automation solutions supported by engineering and service expertise.
The acquisition follows reported expansion activity in Airline’s home region.
In late March, Airline signed a lease for a 184,611-square-foot industrial facility in Bristol, PA, according to several local reports. The company plans to fully occupy the facility this summer and add 50 jobs.
The facility will support manufacturing and distribution operations and allow Airline to consolidate operations from two existing locations in Bensalem and Bristol, both of which have leases set to expire within the year, according to the report.
Airline’s 65,000-square-foot headquarters in Bensalem will remain operational.
The Bristol facility, owned by EQT Real Estate, was built in 1990 and includes 14,760 square feet of office space.
