Norm Fasteners, a subsidiary of Norm Holding based in Izmir, Turkey, has established its first U.S. fastener manufacturing facility in Bath Township, MI, outside of Lansing.

Norm Fasteners, which manufactures fasteners for industries such as automotive, construction and agriculture, initiated the strategic move to the U.S. in 2018 when it established warehousing and a sales office in Lansing.

Developer partner Dymaxion is scheduled to commence construction on the 365,000-square-foot facility in the spring of 2024, with an anticipated completion date in the fall of 2025. Once complete, the facility will be capable of  the annealing and heat treatment of raw materials, cold forging, secondary operations, as well as plating, coating, and sorting and packaging of the final product.

A Link in the EV Production Supply Chain

The facility represents a $77 million investment over the next three years in Bath Township, fostering economic growth and creating 200 new jobs for the local community. But its support by local and state communities, including the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) and the Michigan Economic Development Corp., also comes from Norm Fastener’s potential to be an important supplier in the electric vehicle supply chain as Michigan fights for its spot as a hub for EV production.

“Our LEAP team worked this project for nearly seven years along with the support of many local partners, to make sure we won the competition against multiple southern states and another country,” said LEAP President and CEO Bob Trezise in a Dec. 12 news release. “Norm Fasteners is an important partner to our EV supply chain as we are building North America’s electric car and battery capital.”
