MCE Acquires Piedmont Electric Motor Repair - Modern Distribution Management

MCE Acquires Piedmont Electric Motor Repair

Adding Asheboro, NC, Piedmont follows eight acquisitions for MCE during 2023.

Following a busy 2023, Motion & Control Enterprises (Zelienople, PA) continued its expansion into 2024 with the acquisition of Piedmont Electric Motor Repair, Inc.

Founded in 1971 and based in Asheboro, NC, Piedmont offers a broad range of industrial products and services, including electric motors, cranes, material handling, fabrication/welding and machinery services.  The company serves industrial and commercial customers across diverse end markets.

Piedmont will continue to operate under the Piedmont Electric Motor name and with the continued leadership of Vice President Scott Saunders.

“Maintenance and repair capabilities are critically important for today’s customers and are consistent with our strategy of being a full-lifecycle provider of highly-engineered products and services,” MCE Chairman and CEO Charley Hale said in a Jan. 18 news release. “Piedmont is a well-recognized provider of electric motor and crane repair services, and the strategic combination of our businesses will be positive for our customers and employees.”

“I am delighted that Piedmont has joined MCE,” added Thomas Saunders, Piedmont’s former owner.. “This will provide Piedmont’s customers and employees many added opportunities for the future.”

Founded in 1951, MCE is a distributor and service provider covering technical fluid power, automation, flow control, compressed air products, filtration, service and repair solutions. The company serves more than 26,600 OEM and end-user customers from 47 facilities located in 15 states.

On MDM’s 2023 Top Distributors Lists, MCE ranks No. 50 among industrial distributors and No. 9 for fluid power.

The deal follows eight acquisitions in 2023 for MCE. The previously most recent one was Pasadena, TX-based process filtration product distributor Filter Resources (announced Dec. 4).
