U.S. Census Bureau: Wholesale Inventories Up Slightly in June

The U.S. Census Bureau said on Wednesday that wholesale inventories in June were up 10.2% from the same month a year ago.

Wholesale inventories for June, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading day differences, but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of $715.0 billion, up 0.8% from May 2021 and up 10.2% from the same month a year ago, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The international trade deficit was $91.2 billion in June, up $3 billion from $88.2 billion in May. Exports of goods  for June were $145.5 billion, which was a half a billion increase over May’s exports. Imports of goods for June were $236.7 billion, $3.5  billion more than May imports.

Retail inventories for June, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading day differences, but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of $600.0 billion, up 0.3% from May, and up 3.7% from June 2020. The April 2021 to May 2021 percentage change was unrevised from  the preliminary estimate of down 0.8%.
