With New PE Owner, Rensa Filtration Makes Michigan Acquisition

Rensa’s purchase of Aero Filter expands its Michigan sales and service presence just days after AEA Investors and BCI acquired the air filtration manufacturer and distributor.

Aurora, IL-based air filtration manufacturer and distributor Rensa Filtration announced Oct. 12 that it acquired Aero Filter, Inc. — a Madison Heights, MI air filtration distribution and service company.

Founded in the Detroit area in 1978, Aero Filter serves schools, manufacturing facilities, healthcare organizations and other commercial and institutional buildings across Michigan. Its services include filter replacements and energy consumption audits. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition adds to Rensa’s regional distribution network, which combines local technical sales and on-site services with the company’s filter media production and filter manufacturing capabilities.

“Chuck and Dave have built a great filter business that is a perfect fit with Rensa,” Rensa CEO and Founder Brandon Ost said, referring to Aero Filter leaders Chuck Dankanics and Dave Polens, who have led the business through nearly 40 years of growth.

The deal is Rensa’s first announced acquisition under new backers AEA Investors and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI). The investors acquired Rensa from Audax Private Equity in a transaction that closed Oct. 8. Audax retained a minority stake alongside Rensa management. Financial terms of the ownership transaction were not disclosed.

Audax initially invested in Rensa in August 2022. During its ownership, Rensa completed 10 acquisitions, opened manufacturing facilities in Nevada and Illinois and expanded its service locations into a national footprint, according to Audax.

Rensa’s filtration products serve applications including data centers, power generation, food processing, healthcare, life sciences and semiconductor manufacturing.

Aero Filter marks Rensa’s second acquisition of 2026, following its April purchase of Air Filters Northwest and AFNW Services. Founded in Portland, OR, Air Filters Northwest brought distribution and service teams serving applications including healthcare, semiconductor fabrication and data centers, with on-site services ranging from filter installation and testing to used-filter recycling.
