Kimberly-Clark Pro 1Q Sales Up 9% on Pricing as Volume Slides

KCP sales rose 12% in the company's North America region in 1Q.

Texas-based household consumables and facility cleaning solutions supplier Kimberly-Clark announced the 2023 first-quarter fiscal results for its K-C Professional (KCP) segment on April 25.

KCP, which is Kimberly-Clark’s professional workplace solutions segment, posted 1Q sales of $847 million, a 9% increase year-over-year, with 11% organic sales growth. The segment saw 12% sales growth in the company’s North America region. 1Q operating profit of $159 million increased 77% year-over-year, driven by continued focus on cost discipline and profitable growth, the company said.

Companywide, Kimberly-Clark had 1Q net sales of $5.2 billion, up 2% year-over-year, with organic sales growth of 5%. 1Q sales were driven by a 10% increase in price and favorable product mix offset by a 5% decrease in volume.

“Our growth strategy continues to deliver behind strong execution of our commercial programs,” Kimberly-Clark Chairman and CEO Mike Hsu said in a news release. “Revenue growth management initiatives drove continued sales momentum with a better-than-expected elasticity impact on volume. Looking ahead, we have an exciting innovation pipeline that will deliver superior performance in health, wellness and sustainability. With our strong portfolio of trusted brands, we have our sights set on growing our categories and winning with consumers to enable long-term, profitable growth.”
