Descartes Systems Group (Nasdaq:DSGX) (TSX:DSG), the global leader in uniting logistics-intensive businesses in commerce, announced that Ferguson Enterprises, Inc., a leading wholesale distributor, has successfully implemented Descartes’ cloud-based MobileLink solution. The mobile solution is designed to help Ferguson improve its customer service and eliminate paperwork.
“MobileLink allows us to automate our proof-of-delivery process and capture critical information that can help us improve customer service and the productivity of our operations,” said Joseph Zanette, Solution Manager, Supply Chain, Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. “Descartes’ integrated Routing, Mobile and Telematics suite allows us to implement a comprehensive fleet operations solution with one vendor. The mobile solution was a logical extension of our use of Descartes’ Route Planner for route planning and optimization.”
MobileLink is a GPS-based solution for managing pick-up and delivery operations, and is part of Descartes’ Routing, Mobile and Telematics suite. The solution provides route sequences, route status, turn-by-turn driving instructions, proof-of-delivery, including signature and photograph capture, and customer configurable field data capture. MobileLink is available on the Microsoft Windows Mobile and Java operating systems. Through Descartes’ cloud-based wireless Global Logistics Network, MobileLink communicates bi-directionally, in real-time, with Descartes’ route planning and execution solutions and customer back-end systems.
“Descartes’ Mobile Link and Route Planner is a powerful combination to help leading wholesale distribution companies, such as Ferguson, manage their dynamic “last-mile” deliveries,” said Edward Ryan, Chief Commercial Officer at Descartes. “We are glad to be able to help Ferguson expand its command of operations from route planning to managing resources in the field. The breadth of our Routing, Mobile and Telematics suite and modular approach allowed them to start in one area and expand as they needed greater capabilities.”
