Grainger’s Organic Daily Sales Up 14% in August

Including acquisitions and foreign exchange, sales grew 20%.

Chicago-based distributor Grainger (NYSE: GWW), No. 3 on MDM’s list of top 40 industrial distributors, reported sales results for August 2010. Daily sales increased 20 percent versus August 2009.

Results for the month included a 5 percentage point contribution from acquisitions and a 1 percentage point contribution from foreign exchange. Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, daily sales for the company increased 14 percent.

Sales in the U.S. were up 15 percent; Canada sales were up 14 percent in local currency; and Other Businesses, including sales from acquired businesses in Japan and Colombia, were up nearly 200 percent.
