Electrical supplies distributor Wesco appointed Daniel Castillo as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the company’s Electrical & Electronic Solutions (EES) unit.
Effective Sept. 1, Castillo will lead the unit, succeeding Nelson Squires, who retires Sept. 30.
Castillo was previously EVP and President of North America at Brinks, overseeing secure solutions in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Earlier roles include president of Cree Lighting, senior positions at JELD-WEN, Eaton and Cooper Industries, and the start of his career at General Electric.
The EES unit comprised 38.3% of revenue during Wesco’s April-June quarter — essentially tied with Wesco’s Communications & Security Solutions CSS unit as the company’s largest. Wesco reported total 2Q sales of $2.25 billion for its EES unit, up 6.0% year-over-year. Meanwhile, organic sales were likewise up 6.0% year-over-year. Adjusted EBITDA of $183 million declined 4.0% year-over-year, while margin of 8.1% increased 80 basis points year-over-year.

“Danny is joining Wesco and assuming leadership of our EES business at an opportune time,” Wesco Chairman, President and CEO John Engel said in an Aug. 25 news release. “As we recently reported, EES sales increased 6% year-over-year in the second quarter led by strong performance in OEM and Construction, along with a return to growth in Industrial. Our improving business momentum in EES is being driven by increased sales tied to data center and infrastructure projects across the U.S. and Canada. EES is beginning to see benefits from the secular growth trends of electrification, AI-driven data centers, automation and IoT and reshoring to North America.”
Squires has been with Wesco since 2015, moving from Canada and International Group VP & General Manager (2015-2019), to Chief Operating Officer (2019-2020) and to EES head since July 2020. He previously was a 27-year veteran at Air Products.
