Schneider Electric Acquires WattBuy in Residential Boost

WattBuy is a software platform that uses proprietary data models and integration to provide personalized renewable energy plans, quote and cost estimates.

Digital transformation, energy management and automation products provider Schneider Electric has acquired WattBuy.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

WattBuy is a software platform that helps consumers and businesses make data-based decisions about renewable energy. Using proprietary data models and integrations, WattBuy provides personalized electricity plans, rooftop solar quotes and total energy cost estimates to support home and business electrification. WattBuy’s technology offers customized recommendations for electricity plans, solar panels, battery storage and projected energy costs based on a user’s address and energy usage.

WattBuy will collaborate with Schneider Electric subsidiaries EnergySage and Qmerit to offer a streamlined experience for homeowners, covering energy planning, solar installation, EV charger deployment and home upgrades. Schneider Electric said WattBuy’s API-first model is already used by companies such as Redfin, Veterans United Home Loans and Opendoor, which together serve more than 100 million consumers.

According to Schneider Electric, combined with EnergySage’s marketplace and Qmerit’s service network, the company now provides both digital tools and physical services to support residential electrification.

“WattBuy’s personalization capabilities and intelligence engine are the perfect complement to EnergySage’s mission of transparency and choice,” Schneider Electric SVP, Prosumer Jaser Faruq said in an Aug. 21 news release. “By integrating WattBuy into our growing prosumer energy portfolio, we’re unlocking a future where every household can make smarter, cleaner energy choices, transforming both the purchasing and installation experience.”

CEO and Co-Founder Naman Trivedi will continue to lead WattBuy’s operations alongside the existing management team. Schneider Electric said the acquisition will enhance its ability to support U.S. homeowners in navigating the energy transition.
