Electrical and datacomm supplies distributor Wesco International announced Jan. 15 that it has promoted Greg O’Brien to Senior Vice President of the Global Services Organization within the company’s Communications & Security Solutions business unit.
O’Brien has been in the communications and security products market since 2009 when he joined Anixter, and became Wesco’s Vice President of U.S. Sales when it acquired Anixter in 2020. He was promoted to VP of Global Services in late 2024 before his SVP of Global Services promotion this past December.
In early 2025, O’Brien assumed the role of VP of services, where he focused on scaling and strengthening Wesco’s Global Services organization. Today, he leads a team of more than 1,000 sales and technical professionals, delivering a comprehensive global services portfolio, including advisory services, data center services, installation enhancement services, project deployment services, managed services and supply chain solutions. These services and solutions fill gaps in staffing and support enhanced productivity, mitigate risk and improve profitability.

In a news release, Wesco noted that, under O’Brien’s leadership, the U.S. CSS business grew into a more than $3 billion operation, delivering strong results while expanding capabilities and customer reach.
“As services continue to be a core driver of growth and long-term customer relationships for CSS, Greg will focus on expanding our services capabilities, improving execution at scale and ensuring we consistently deliver meaningful, high-value outcomes for our customers,” said Dirk Naylor, EVP and General Manager for Wesco’s CSS business. “His leadership is critical to how we’re shifting beyond products alone to differentiated solutions that are digitally enabled and built on expertise, execution and trust.”
