Canada-based heavy equipment and industrial parts distributor Wajax Corp. has named its new top leader — four months after initiating a succession process for the role currently held by Iggy Domagalski.
On Feb. 12, Wajax announced that George McClean will become President and CEO on March 3 and join the company’s board of directors.
McClean has spent the past four years as Co-CEO at Canadian HVACR and hydronics distributor Master Group. Before that, he was President of National Tire Distributors from 2016-2022. Meanwhile, he was President and member of Sonepar Canada’s global executive group (2023-2025) and a board member of Walker Industries (2021-2023). Further back, McClean had executive roles at Grainger and General Motors.
All told, he has approximately 30 years of Canadian and international executive experience in distribution, manufacturing, retail, services and engineered solutions, including deep experience in digitization, advanced analytics and cultural transformation.
“George is an exceptional leader with a demonstrated ability to deliver results, build culture and execute strategy in complex environments,” said Edward Barrett, Wajax Board Chair. “His experience leading major transformations, driving operational excellence and growing businesses in Canada and abroad makes him the ideal CEO for Wajax’s next chapter.”
Wajax was No. 33 on MDM’s 2025 Top Distributors List for Industrial Supplies on account of its Industrial Parts and ERP business segments.
“Wajax is one of Canada’s most respected industrial companies, with a proud history and an exciting future,” McClean added. “I am honored to join the Wajax team and eager to work with our talented employees and with our customers and vendor partners. Together, we will build on Wajax’s strong foundation, accelerate growth and focus on delivering outstanding results.”
