Charleston, SC-based electrical supplies distributor Sonepar announced its U.S. Midwest subsidiary Echo Electric is set to acquire Shaw Supply — a full-line electrical distributor located in Kansas City, MO.
A family-owned business since 1957, Shaw Supply brings more than 30 associates to Echo Electric and strengthens its presence in the greater Kansas City market and western Missouri. The transaction is expected to close at the end of March.
Current co‑owners of Shaw Supply, Brian and Patrick Shaw, commented: “Our team has worked tirelessly to deliver the level of service and responsiveness that our customers rely on, a commitment that has driven our growth over the years. Joining Echo Electric allows us to provide our associates with expanded opportunities and enhance the capabilities we offer to customers. We could not be more optimistic about the future.”
The company stated the acquisition marks another milestone in Echo Electric’s strategic plan to create a single platform across the Midwest. In 2025, Echo unified five distinct operations under the Echo brand for a total footprint that covers 10 states and 500,000 square miles. The distributor has also been expanding a suite of specialized services, including quick-ship switchboards and panelboards, substation packaging and sourcing, and industrial solutions like network assessments.

Sonepar acquired Echo Electric in August 2024, which added 23 central/Midwest branches to Sonepar’s U.S. network.
Sonepar has more than 570 locations across the U.S. and approximately 12,800 employees. Sonepar’s North American operations were No. 2 on MDM’s 2025 Top Distributors List for Electrical/Data/Security supplies.
