Big Brand Tire to Acquire Fellow Distributor Belle Tire, Pushing Revenue Past $1.5B

The transaction will add Belle Tire’s more than 180 Midwest stores to Big Brand’s rapidly expanding network, creating an independent tire and automotive service provider with over 530 locations.

Big Brand Tire & Service has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Belle Tire in a combination that will create one of the largest independent tire and automotive service platforms in the U.S.

The companies announced the agreement July 16. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026.

The acquisition will increase Big Brand’s annual revenue to more than $1.5 billion and expand its footprint to over 530 locations nationwide. Belle Tire operates more than 180 stores across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

Founded in Detroit in 1922, Belle Tire offers tires, wheels and automotive maintenance and repair services. The company has developed a particularly strong presence across the Midwest during its more than 100 years in business.

“Belle Tire has built an exceptional business centered on its people, its customers and the communities it serves,” Big Brand CEO Joe Buscaglia said in the announcement. “We have tremendous respect for the Belle Tire team and the culture they have created over the past century.”

Belle Tire President Don Barnes III said the companies share a people-first operating philosophy that should allow Belle Tire to continue investing in its employees, customers and communities.

Moorpark, CA-based Big Brand was founded in 1969 and provides tires and vehicle maintenance services. Its offerings include brakes, alignments, oil changes, batteries and other automotive repair services.

The company has expanded rapidly since partnering with private equity firm Percheron Capital in 2021, combining organic growth with a high-volume acquisition strategy. Big Brand said its revenue increased more than tenfold and profitability grew more than fifteenfold during the first four years of its partnership with Percheron.

Percheron completed a $1.63 billion recapitalization of Big Brand in October 2025 through a continuation vehicle designed to finance the company’s next phase of expansion. At the time, Big Brand said it ultimately planned to grow to 1,000 service centers.

MDM Analysis

Belle Tire represents a sizable regional platform rather than another small store add-on for Big Brand. The deal gives the California-based consolidator immediate density in four Midwest states and combines two of the country’s largest independent tire dealerships. It also demonstrates how private equity-backed platforms are accelerating consolidation in a fragmented automotive aftermarket, where geographic scale can improve purchasing leverage, marketing efficiency, technology investment and service capacity. Preserving Belle Tire’s established brand and local customer loyalty will likely be central to realizing those advantages.
