Building materials supply holding company MacArthur Co. announced that it March 30 that it is uniting two of its specialty wood distribution subsidiaries under a new enterprise brand.
Going forward, Weekes Forest Products and Snavey Forest Products will do business as WS Building Materials — a 100% employee-owned subsidiary of MacArthur.
A news release detailed that the transition includes a unified visual brand identity that will be reflected across facilities, communications and digital platforms to reinforce a consistent and cohesive presence across all markets.
Both companies are distributors of building materials that include building protection, decking and railing, fencing, engineered wood products, siding and trim, interior panels and trim, specialty timbers, structural panels and boards.
“This is an evolution, not a revolution,” said Scott Gardner, President of WS Building Materials. “Our customers and supplier partners have asked us to operate as a single enterprise rather than regional distributors. WS Building Materials strengthens our ability to align strategy, execution and investment across our footprint.”
The announcement follows several years of increased collaboration between the organizations, including systems alignment, shared strategic planning and cross-functional integration. The company said the move is in direct response to customer and supplier feedback calling for a more unified enterprise structure.
St. Paul, MN-based Weekes’ footprint spans 13 states with 10 offices, nine distribution centers and two remanufacturing facilities, while Pittsburgh-based Snavely has eight total locations.
