Building materials distributor 84 Lumber appointed retail and financial services leader Dustin Hauenstein as its Chief Financial Officer.
Hauenstein joins the company with more than 25 years of finance and accounting experience. Throughout his career, he has held CFO positions, leading finance organizations for both retail and wholesale businesses, while overseeing financial planning and analysis, investor relations, procurement and enterprise strategy.
As CFO, Hauenstein will oversee financial operations and support long-term strategic planning, operational excellence and financial performance.
“His experience leading complex organizations and building high-performing teams, paired with his sound financial expertise, makes him an outstanding addition to our leadership team,” 84 Lumber President Maggie Hardy said in an Aug. 17 news release.
Most recently, Hauenstein served as Senior Vice President at Designer Brands, where he held responsibilities as CFO of both DSW and the Brand Portfolio, as well as Head of Corporate Finance, overseeing enterprise financial planning and analysis, investor relations and strategic procurement. Throughout his tenure, he played a central role in shaping the company’s post-pandemic financial strategy, strengthening cross-functional alignment, and advancing enterprise-wide initiatives that enhanced profitability, operational discipline and long-term performance, according to the company.
Prior to joining Designer Brands, Hauenstein spent more than 12 years at JPMorgan Chase & Co.
“I am honored to join 84 Lumber and grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an iconic and respected company,” Hauenstein said. “84 Lumber has built an incredible reputation through its commitment to customers, associates, and communities. I look forward to working alongside the leadership team to support the company’s continued growth and build on its strong financial foundation.”
84 Lumber ranked 8th on MDM’s 2026 Top Building Materials/Construction Distributors List. It currently operates 320 facilities in 34 states and employs more than 7,500 associates.
