Meritus Gas Partners has expanded its Colorado presence with the acquisition of Wagner Welding Supply — a Longmont-based distributor of industrial and medical gases.

The deal, announced Sept. 1, was completed through Meritus subsidiary Buckeye Welding Supply. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Wagner operates a single location serving the northern Denver market and has been in business for more than 80 years. The company is led by owner Dennis Ogden.

The acquisition gives Buckeye its fifth Colorado location and follows its acquisition of HICO Distributing in Englewood, CO, earlier this year. Meritus said the Wagner location will provide an additional outlet for Buckeye customers in northwest Denver while creating opportunities to expand into construction, aerospace and chemical industry markets.

“Dennis and his team have created a business with a tremendous reputation in the market, and we are excited to welcome them to the Buckeye family,” Buckeye President Steve Schwegman said in the announcement.

New York-based Meritus was founded in 2020 and is a portfolio company of AEA Enterprise. The company is building a national network of independent distributors of industrial, medical and specialty gases, along with welding and safety supplies.

The Wagner acquisition is Meritus’ fourth announced deal of 2026 and its third since July.

On July 31, Meritus acquired Dallas-based Metroplex Welding Supply — an industrial gases and welding supplies distributor with five locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The deal expanded a DFW footprint that Meritus had already grown in March through its acquisition of Granbury, TX-based Greens Welding Supply.

Between those transactions, Buckeye acquired HICO Distributing, an Englewood-based helium and balloon supplies distributor. That deal gave Buckeye its fourth Colorado location and expanded its helium capabilities in the Denver market.
