Industrial and contractor supplies buying group AD reported Aug. 3 that its member sales increased 15% year-over-year to more than $58 billion during the first half of 2026.
The record total covered AD’s 13 divisions across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Same-store sales among existing members increased 10%, while member purchases from AD suppliers jumped 24%.
AD’s net member count increased by 79 during the six-month period. Member distributors also completed acquisitions of 28 companies that were not previously part of AD.
“Our strong first-half results reflect the growth of our members, the addition of new members to our community, and the strength of member partnerships with AD suppliers,” AD Chairman and CEO Bill Weisberg said in the company’s announcement. “We look forward to working closely with our Owner-Members and member-elected governing groups to build on this success through the end of the year.”
The results continued AD’s double-digit growth from the opening quarter. AD previously reported that 1Q26 member sales increased 16% to nearly $28 billion, with same-store sales up 10% and purchases from AD suppliers rising 28%. The buying group added 74 members on a net basis during the quarter, primarily reflecting its integration of The Commonwealth Group.
The first-half update followed AD’s July 8 announcement that it reached an agreement to acquire supplyFORCE — a buying group that helps independent distributors jointly pursue and service large MRO and government contracts.
AD and supplyFORCE signed an exclusive letter of intent, with the transaction subject to approval by supplyFORCE shareholders and AD’s board of directors. The organizations said they were conducting due diligence and expected the deal to close during 3Q26. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Weisberg said the acquisition would add a national accounts-focused service capability to AD’s portfolio and help independent distributors compete for large, multisite customer opportunities.
The pending supplyFORCE acquisition would continue a period of sizable expansion for AD, which completed a landmark merger with IMARK Electrical in 2024. That deal drove much of AD’s full-year 2025 growth, when the group reported record annual member sales of $100 billion across 13 divisions and three countries — up approximately 20% from 2024. Pre-merger, AD’s annual member sales were around $75 billion.
The Commonwealth Group addition was also the primary driver of AD’s 1Q26 member expansion, when AD added 74 members on a net basis.
AD represents more than 1,000 independently owned distributors with combined annual sales exceeding $100 billion.
