Bedford, MA-based plumbing, HVACR and industrial supplies distributor F.W. Webb Company has partnered with Bring Back the Trades (BBTT).
BBTT is a nonprofit focused on advocating for the skilled trades as a vital career path. The organization will conduct primary and secondary research to assess the challenges and opportunities of addressing the skilled trades shortage through its partnership with F.W. Webb. The initiative will explore factors like workforce demographics, barriers to entry and education/training gaps.

“Their support not only underscores the urgency of addressing the skills gap but also demonstrates their commitment to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the trades,” Bring Back the Trades President and Founder Steve Turner said in a Jan. 22 news release. “Together, we are taking proactive steps to empower the next generation of tradespeople.”

According to the news release, the research aims to identify key factors contributing to the growing skills gap in the trades, including workforce trends and the impact of retirements on specific industries. Additionally, it will provide recommendations for industry leaders, educators and policymakers to address these challenges.
BBTT said the partnership demonstrates F.W. Webb’s commitment to workforce development and underscores the shared goal of securing a sustainable future for the trades.
“This partnership with Bring Back the Trades is an opportunity to address the skills gap head-on and ensure that we are building a strong pipeline of talent for years to come,” F.W. Webb Owner and President Jeff Pope said.
