Industrial and MRO supplies distributor Global Industrial Company reported strong second quarter sales growth on Aug. 4, with reported profitability receiving a sizable lift from tariff refunds.
The Port Washington, NY-based company posted 2Q sales of $386.6 million, up 7.7% year-over-year. Average daily sales increased 9.3%, with growth benefiting from both higher prices and volumes.
Global Industrial’s reported gross margin increased 310 basis points to 40.2%, while operating profit jumped 47.2% to $49.3 million. Net profit likewise increased 47.8% to $37.1 million.
Those figures included a $26.2 million benefit associated with refunds of tariffs previously paid under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The total included $21.1 million applied to cost of sales, a $4 million reduction to inventory costs and $1.1 million in interest income.
Excluding that one-time benefit, Global Industrial’s gross margin was 34.7%, down from 37.1% a year earlier. Adjusted operating profit was $28.2 million, while adjusted net profit was $20.7 million. Adjusted diluted earnings were $0.54 per share, compared with $0.65 a year earlier.
“We delivered another quarter of strong, broad-based growth,” Global Industrial CEO Anesa Chaibi said, noting continued momentum across the business.
Chaibi added that the company continues to deepen customer relationships, expand e-procurement adoption and strengthen its vertical specialization.
For the first six months of 2026, Global Industrial’s sales increased 8.4% to $737 million, with average daily sales likewise up 8.4%.
The results followed a first quarter in which sales increased 9.2% to $350 million and net profit grew 13.3%. Global Industrial had 2025 revenue of $1.38 billion, up 4.8%.
