On Oct. 18, the Industrial Supply Association (ISA) awarded Vallen with its 2023 Innovation Impact Award in recognition of the industrial MRO distributor’s “groundbreaking” employee resource group (ERG) program, dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive culture.

ISA said Vallen has committed to nurturing talent, especially focusing on women, minorities often under-represented in the distribution industry, and veterans transitioning to corporate roles after military service. Vallen’s ERGs include:

• VICKIE: A Vallen ERG focused on developing women within the organization, and building a supportive environment to retain and attract diverse talent.
• BERG: Vallen’s ERG that supports and encourages Black employees in their career development. Membership in BERG is open to all Vallen associates, with the goal of building relationships that enhance understanding, equity, and allyship.
• SALUTE: A Vallen ERG for veterans with the goal of not only supporting current veteran associates but also recruiting veterans and disabled veterans for professional positions and opportunities.
