Builders FirstSource has acquired Innovative Construction Group (ICG) from homebuilder PulteGroup, expanding the distributor’s off-site construction and installation capabilities in the Southeast. Financial terms were not disclosed.
ICG manufactures building components and installs them using its own crews, providing customers with an integrated service that extends from production through jobsite execution. The company works with developers, general contractors and professional builders on single-family, multifamily and commercial construction projects, according to its website.
“The addition of ICG to BFS strengthens our presence in the Southeast with turnkey framing solutions including structural design, trusses, wall panels, floor systems, delivery, installation and field supervision,” Builders FirstSource President and CEO Peter Jackson said in a statement provided to MDM.
The deal comes days after the Irving, TX-based distributor reported another quarter of weaker financial results amid persistent housing affordability pressures and declining construction activity.
Builders FirstSource posted second-quarter net sales of $3.86 billion, down 8.8% year-over-year. Core organic sales decreased 7%, while commodity deflation reduced sales by 2.7%. Acquisitions provided a 0.9% sales benefit. Gross profit fell 16.3% to $1.09 billion, while adjusted EBITDA decreased 34.9% to $329 million.
