Würth Additive Group — an additive manufacturing and digital inventory business of Würth Industry North America — has closed its operations.

The Greenwood, IN-based company announced the closure in a brief June 29 statement posted to LinkedIn. Würth Additive said it was committed to an orderly wind-down of all operations and that stakeholders with active accounts or outstanding arrangements would be contacted directly by its closing office.

The company did not disclose a reason for the closure or provide details regarding its workforce, customers or the disposition of its technology and partner relationships.

Würth Industry North America began offering additive manufacturing products and services in 2017 before forming Würth Additive Group as a dedicated business unit in April 2021. Würth Industry is the North American industrial division of Germany-based Würth Group — a global distributor of fasteners, assembly materials and other industrial products with more than $23 billion in annual revenue and 86,000 employees.

Würth Additive sought to help manufacturers incorporate industrial 3D printing into their supply chains through equipment, materials, production services, training and financing. Its broader strategy centered on allowing customers to store qualified parts digitally and manufacture them closer to the point of need rather than maintaining physical inventories.

The company’s Digital Inventory Services platform was designed to enable the secure transmission and controlled production of digital part files across different locations, with traceability and quality-assurance capabilities. Würth Additive introduced the platform through pilot programs in 2024 and launched its first commercial edition at the Additive Manufacturing Users Group Conference in March 2025.

The closure came despite several relatively recent technology partnerships. Würth Additive and HP announced a digital production collaboration in November 2025 aimed at enabling localized, on-demand parts manufacturing. In March 2026, Würth Additive partnered with 3D printer manufacturer B9Creations to combine its digital inventory platform with a quality-control framework for distributed production.

Würth Additive’s website remained accessible as of July 20, continuing to describe the business as a provider of industrial 3D printing and digital inventory solutions.

In North America, Würth does business primarily via Würth Industry USA unit. On MDM’s 2026 Top Distributors Lists, Würth Industry ranked No. 2 for Fasteners; No. 10 for Safety; No. 12 for Industrial Supplies; and No. 17 for MRO Industrial.
