Industrial gases distributor Maine Oxy acquired the assets of welding supplies distributor Strate Welding Supply Co.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Based in New York, Strate Welding Supply is an industrial gas and welding supply distributor, serving customers from its 13 locations across Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania and New York. Established in 1949 by Russell and Gordon Strate, the company provides customers with products via its multiple welding supply stores and a large fleet of vehicles.

Auburn, ME-based Maine Oxy said the acquisition bolsters its presence in the regions where Strate Welding Supply operates and enhances its capacity to serve customers across the eastern U.S.
“Together, we look forward to continuing to deliver exceptional products and services to our customers while expanding our footprint in Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania and New York,” Maine Oxy Chief Operating Officer Kelly Gentry said in a Dec. 31 news release.

Maine Oxy was established in 1929 as Maine Gas Service, providing customers with propane sales and services. Since then, the company has grown and now serves various industries with industrial gases, welding equipment and related products through 17 locations and two filling plants across Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont.
The company said all current Strate Welding Supply employees will become part of the Maine Oxy team.
