Fuel and gasoline distributor Cary Oil Co. appointed a 20-year veteran of the energy distribution industry as its President and CEO.
Thomas Horvatits joins Cary Oil from Mansfield Energy Corp., where he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations for Mansfield Service Partners. During his tenure, Horvatits spearheaded a transformation that quadrupled EBITDA in two years and executed and integrated two major acquisitions, company officials said in a Sept. 3 news release.
“His proven track record leading high-performing teams and customer-focused development strategies makes him the ideal leader to leverage our core business and capture new opportunities,” said Craig Stephenson, CEO COC Properties, the parent company of Cary Oil.

Earlier in his career, Horvatits held senior leadership roles at Tropic Oil Company, Highlands Oil Company, and Great Lakes Petroleum.
“I’m honored to join Cary Oil and carry forward its legacy of excellence,” Horvatits said. “The company’s strong reputation, talented people, and customer-first approach are what drew me here. I look forward to collaborating with the team to build on that foundation and catalyze growth.”
Horvatits succeeds R. Mark Maddox, who will retire after more than 16 years with Cary Oil, including the last three years as CEO.
In July, Cary Oil made two acquisitions.
