Industrial manufacturer Crane Co. (NYSE: CR), Stamford, CT, reported sales for the fourth quarter of $629.8 million, a 1.6 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit was $46 million, compared to a year-ago loss of $125.7 million.
Aerospace & Electronics sales in the quarter were $176.1 million, a 2 percent increase from the same period a year ago. Engineered Materials segment sales of $46.9 million were up 4 percent. Merchandising Systems segment sales were $94.2 million, 9 percent above 2011 levels.
Fluid Handling segment sales fell 1 percent to $291.9 million. Sales in the Controls segment of $20.8 million were also down from 2011 levels, by 6 percent.
For the full year, Crane Co. sales were $701.2 million, an increase of 3.5 percent compared to the prior year. Profit increased 721.5 percent to $217.8 million.
