As MDM has previously reported, counterfeiters have no brand loyalty. Manufacturers of apparel, luxury goods and other consumer products have been facing the problem of counterfeits in the supply chain for years.
But counterfeiting has increasingly seeped into other products – electrical, electronics, bearings, safety and more – and distributors should take note, experts say.
MDM Associate Editor Jenel Stelton-Holtmeier reported in the most recent issue of MDM Premium that the concern over counterfeits goes beyond the bottom line. It can be “life and death.” If a counterfeit bearing failed in a school bus or an aircraft, for example, it could be disastrous.
