Sales for Affiliated Distributors affiliates for all divisions grew five percent in the first quarter to $6.5 billion. In the last three months, affiliates hired 1,079 new employees and opened 41 new locations.
AD Industrial affiliate sales grew 4 percent in the first quarter on a same-store basis, to $1.4 billion. Jack Templin, AD’s president of the Industrial Supply Division, said, “There are several indicators that point to a slowing in the industrial industry at large with many manufacturers reporting results to be sales essentially flat for the first quarter. However, the AD’s industrial division outperformed the market.”
AD Electrical affiliate sales grew 4 percent in for the quarter on a same-store basis, to $2.9 billion. John Eggleton, president of AD’s U.S. Electrical Division, said industry experts, distributors and manufacturers expect conservative growth in 2013, flat or in the low single digits.
Affiliated Distributors has more than 450 independently-owned members across seven industries and two countries with annual sales in excess of $25 billion.
