The U.S. Department of Labor cited heavy-duty truck parts distributor FleetPride for 19 workplace safety violations following an investigation into a worker fatality at its Corpus Christi, TX, facility.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration opened its investigation Jan. 7 after an employee asphyxiated while inspecting the inside of a tanker trailer. Local media identified the worker as Juan Antonio Garza Jr., 63.

OSHA issued FleetPride 16 serious violations and three other-than-serious violations, proposing $264,380 in penalties.

The agency said its investigation found that FleetPride failed to implement a confined-space program, lacked required elements within its respiratory protection program and exposed employees to electrical hazards.

FleetPride told Corpus Christi television station KIII that it is reviewing the citations and has requested an informal settlement conference with OSHA.

“The well-being of our team members is a top priority at FleetPride, and our thoughts remain with his loved ones and the entire Corpus Christi team,” the company said in a July 17 statement. “Following the incident, FleetPride unilaterally suspended all tank entry work company-wide and has not restarted these operations.”

FleetPride added that it remains committed to working with OSHA toward an appropriate resolution.

The company has 15 business days after receiving the citations and proposed penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA’s area director or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.

Irving, TX-based FleetPride is a major distributor and service provider for the heavy-duty truck and trailer aftermarket. In October 2025, FleetPride merged with TruckPro to create what the companies described as the nation’s largest independent heavy-duty aftermarket distributor and service provider.

The combined company operates under the FleetPride name and brought together more than 450 branches, over 110 service centers and six major distribution centers across the U.S. and Canada.

FleetPride is led by CEO Tom Greco, the former president and CEO of Advance Auto Parts and former CEO of Frito-Lay North America. Greco joined FleetPride in July 2025.
