Meritus Gas Partners has acquired Metroplex Welding Supply — a Dallas-based independent distributor of industrial gases and welding supplies with five locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1975 by Mike Bush Sr., Metroplex is currently led by President Mike Bush Jr., Tom Bush and General Manager Jack Robbins. The business will continue operating under the Metroplex name with its existing leadership team and locally focused operating model.

“Metroplex is an outstanding fit for Meritus, and we are excited to welcome the Metroplex team to the Meritus family,” Meritus President and Chief Operating Officer Rob D’Alessandro said in the company’s July 31 announcement. “The Dallas-Fort Worth market is one of the top industrial markets in the United States, and Metroplex further strengthens our presence in a region that aligns perfectly with our long-term growth strategy.”

Bush said Meritus’ commitment to customers, employees and local decision-making made it the right partner for the 50-year-old business.

Meritus said the acquisition supports its strategy of building a national network of independent distributors while preserving their local brands, management teams and customer-focused cultures. New York-based Meritus was founded in December 2020 and is a portfolio company of AEA Enterprise. Its partner companies distribute industrial, medical and specialty gases, along with welding and safety supplies.

Metroplex is Meritus’ third announced acquisition of 2026 and its second expansion in the DFW market this year.

In March, Meritus Texas acquired Granbury, TX-based Greens Welding Supply — an industrial gases, welding equipment and safety supplies distributor. That transaction added locations in Fort Worth and Dallas and gave Meritus Texas its ninth DFW location. Meritus followed in July when its Buckeye Welding Supply subsidiary acquired HICO Distributing of Colorado. The Englewood, CO-based helium and balloon supplies distributor gave Buckeye its fourth Colorado location and expanded its helium capabilities in the Denver market.

Meritus was formed at the end of 2020 by private investment firm AEA Investors.
