Applied Adhesives has completed acquisitions in the Netherlands and Rhode Island, extending the industrial adhesives distributor’s international reach while expanding its U.S. silicone capabilities and East Coast presence.
The Minnetonka, MN-based company announced Aug. 6 that it acquired Van Asperen Kleefstoffen — a Lelystad, Netherlands-based adhesive solutions provider serving packaging, labeling and paper converting markets. Terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1982, Van Asperen is a premium partner of Henkel and a distribution partner for 3M. The deal establishes Applied’s first presence in the Netherlands and represents its second European acquisition.
“This acquisition represents another important milestone in APPLIED’s international growth strategy,” President and CEO John Feriancek said.
Applied entered Europe in January when it acquired Interlock Adhesives, a Scunthorpe, England-based adhesive technology company serving the packaging, labeling and bookbinding industries. Interlock is also a Henkel Premium Partner. Its senior leadership team remained in place following the acquisition.
ISD, formerly R.P. Morrison Company, specializes in solutions for aerospace, product assembly and pad printing markets. Applied said the acquisition expands its adhesives and silicones portfolio, customer base and East Coast presence.
Applied has announced four acquisitions so far in 2026. Along with Van Asperen, ISD and Interlock, the company acquired Malvern, PA-based LJD Packaging in March. LJD distributes adhesives and equipment for packaging, printing, labeling and product assembly applications.
The deals come after private equity firm Bertram Capital acquired Applied from Arsenal Capital Partners in April 2025. Arsenal had invested in Applied in 2021 and said the company completed 17 acquisitions during its ownership, expanding its geographic reach, product offerings and technical capabilities. Terms of the sale to Bertram were not disclosed.
Bertram’s investment made Applied its fourth industrial distribution platform investment and third platform investment through Fund V.
