On June 2, Fortune unveiled its annual Fortune 500 List for 2025, and it included plenty of companies that decorate MDM’s 2025 Top Distributors Lists.
As expected, retail giant Walmart secured the top spot for the 13th consecutive year, with Amazon maintaining its position as runner-up for the sixth year in a row and UnitedHealth Group climbing to third place.

- CVS Health – $373 billion
- Berkshire Hathaway $371 billion
- Alphabet – $350 billion

Before diving into which wholesale distributors made the list, let’s share a bit more about what the 500 companies represent in the U.S.:
Now in its 71st year, the Fortune 500 ranks the largest U.S. companies by their annual fiscal revenue. The publication notes that these companies generate a combined $19.9 trillion in revenue — representing two-thirds of the U.S. GDP — and employ 31 million people globally. In the past year, the companies on the Fortune 500 posted a record $1.87 trillion in combined profits, a 10% increase from the year prior. While called the Fortune 500, the list actually numbers out to 1,000 companies.
A few other stats regarding this year’s Fortune 500:
- Fourteen companies made their debut this year, including plumbing, PVF, HVACR and industrial supplies distributor Ferguson Enterprises.
- Representation of female CEOs hit a new milestone, with 55 women leading Fortune 500 companies — the highest share in the list’s history at 11%
- The companies on this year’s list are based in 225 cities across 37 states. The biggest concentration is in New York City (43) as the top municipality, followed by Houston (24), Chicago (15), Atlanta (13) and Dallas (9). Meanwhile, California leads all states represented by headquarters location with 58, followed by Texas’ 54.
Here’s Which Distributors Made Fortune’s 2025 “Most Admired” ListÂ
Distributors on Fortune 500
Below is a list of the 35 distributors (wholesalers) featured in the Fortune 500, ranked by revenue. The list also highlights year-over-year changes in revenue and each company’s ranking within the industry Fortune slotted it for. As expected, the big three health care distributors — McKesson, Cencora and Cardinal Health — led the way.
Though not categorized as distributors, it’s worth noting that The Home Depot and Lowe’s — which have a considerable distribution component of their business that sell into the same contractor markets that distributors do — checked in at Nos. 24 and 52, respectively with revenue of $159.5 billion and $83.7 billion. Home Depot’s pro component is represented on several of MDM’s Top Distributors Lists.
