Kodiak Interiors Group (KIG), an appliance and interior solutions spin-off formed in 2025 by building materials distributor Kodiak Building Partners, acquired Mountain Land Design (MLD).
The addition of MLD — a family-owned appliance, plumbing and hardware business serving Utah, Wyoming and Idaho since 1987 — will expand KIG’s presence in the Mountain West and advance its strategy of strengthening independent appliance and interiors businesses while preserving local brand, leadership and customer relationships.
“The MLD leadership team has built a consistently successful business and earned a strong reputation for taking care of its customers and employees,” said Jeff Smith, CEO of Kodiak Interiors Group. “MLD is a natural fit with our culture, expanding our portfolio with new product offerings while providing access to long-term growth markets that complement our existing operations in Colorado and the Pacific Northwest.”
MLD President Dan Devenport said the acquisition gives the company “the ability to continue to grow into new markets without losing what makes us who we are.” MLD’s customers, contractors and manufacturer partners will not see a significant change in day-to-day operations, according to the company.
With the addition of MLD, Kodiak Interiors Group now includes six operating companies serving customers across nine states.
