The unions representing tankhaul workers at Airgas’ locations in Cleveland and New Jersey extended its strike to operations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

A release from Teamsters Locals 507 and 701 said that tankhaul workers at the extended Airgas facilities have gone on strike, citing “unfair labor practices” and the company’s “refusal to negotiate fair and equitable contracts.”

Teamsters went on to say that it represents hundreds of Airgas workers nationwide and are prepared to extend picket lines to additional locations, if necessary.

Airgas has not yet responded to the extended strike.

“This company talks a big game about safety and respect. But when it comes down to it, they won’t even sit across the table and negotiate a real contract,” Local 701 Airgas Teamster and Steward Shawn Diaz said in the June 25 news release. “We’ll stay out as long as it takes for Airgas to treat us with the dignity and respect we’ve earned.”

In other Teamsters news, Local 79 in Florida announced on June 17 that Breakthru Beverage employees in six markets will honor picket lines in support of a strike at Breakthru Beverage locations in Florida.

Radnor, PA-based Airgas — owned by Paris, France-based Air Liqude — ranked No. 3 on MDM’s 2025 Top Distributor’s List for Industrial Supplies and No. 4 for Safety
