In a move to expand its product to cover large-scale process cooling, heating and refrigeration, Nordberg, Denmark-based Danfoss acquired Italian manufacturer Palladio Compressors.
In an Oct. 1 announcement, company officials said the move builds upon a successful partnership with Palladio Compressors to advance high-lift heat pumps and cooling applications over the past two years. Palladio’s screw compressors have been integrated with Danfoss technologies which the company said “promises competitive and advanced high-temperature solutions.”
Danfoss is a global engineering company founded in 1933 that develops technologies aimed at improving machine
productivity, reducing energy use, enabling electrification and lowering emissions. The company’s products are used across industries including refrigeration, HVAC, power conversion, motor control, industrial machinery, automotive, marine and both on- and off-highway equipment. Danfoss also supplies solutions for renewable energy sources like wind and solar, Power-to-X systems, heat recovery and district energy.
“This acquisition broadens our technological capabilities and reinforces our commitment to decarbonization across industries,” said Fabio Klein, Divisional President of Danfoss Commercial Compressors. “Palladio’s advanced technology complements our portfolio, enhancing our compressor solutions for industrial heat pumps and large commercial and industrial refrigeration.”
Palladio Compressors CEO David Candio added: “Joining Danfoss is a transformative opportunity for Palladio Compressors. Together, we can leverage our combined expertise to drive innovation and expand our global reach,” Palladio Compressors CEO David Candio said.
According to the announcement, the Palladio range introduces newly branded Danfoss Screw technology that addresses the limited offerings of advanced, non-captive screw compressors. The technology is designed to support customers entering new markets with compressors utilizing natural and low-GWP refrigerants and is particularly relevant for middle-range intensity applications.
Danfoss plans an increased investment in research and development, production and sales capacities to ensure robust capabilities and market presence.
