Building products distributor Beacon announced June 12 that it has completed the acquisition of Silver State Building Materials — a residential roofing and complementary products distributor based in Gardnerville, Nevada.

Herndon, Virginia-based Beacon was No. 6 on MDM’s 2023 Top Building Materials & Construction Products Distributors list

Silver State is a second-generation family-owned business serving the South Lake Tahoe and Reno market for 30-plus years.

“Tourism and natural beauty continue to drive growth in this market. Our customers will appreciate the service model that Beacon offers, and our employees are excited to join a values-driven team,” commented Derick and Kelly Peterson, Owners of Silver State.

Nevin Holly, Beacon’s Regional Vice President, Pacific added, “We are very pleased to welcome Silver State customers and employees. Our focus for the next chapter of this business will be on the customer experience, including tools like Beacon PRO+ to help our contractors build more.”

Silver State marks Beacon’s fifth acquisition so far in 2023. The company’s previously most recent additions were Hayward, California-based Al’s Roofing Supply Inc. and Neillsville, Wisconsin-based Prince Building Systems — both announced on April 3.

Beacon said the Silver State acquisition further advances the company towards its “Ambition 2025” goals, for which driving above-market growth is a key element. Along with this fifth acquisition of the year, the company has opened five new locations so far in 2023.

Beacon posted 2022 total sales of $8.43 billion that were up 23.6% vs. 2021, while net profit of $458 million likewise spiked 88.6%. In its 2023 first quarter earnings report issued May 4, Beacon posted net sales of $1.73 billion that were up 2.7% year-over-year.

Beacon operates over 490 branches throughout all 50 U.S. states and six provinces in Canada, backed by more than 7,000 associates.
