Fasteners distributor and vendor-managed inventory provider AFC Industries announced July 7 that it has acquired Cavanaugh Government Group.

Chicago-based CGC specializes in the sourcing and distribution of parts and services for military and defense applications and logistics across all government sectors. The company was founded in 2012 by Michael Cavanaugh after he spent more than 20 years in the heavy truck industry.

They bring a lot of expertise and even more importantly, they understand that value isn’t just in having parts on the shelf, but partnering with customers to solve problems, simplify their processes and enable them to focus on what they do best.”

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

AFC is owned by private equity firm Bertram Capital, which acquired the company in 2021.

AFC’s previously most recent acquisition was of Aurora, Ontario-based Irwin Industrial — announced Jan. 9. The company made six bolt-ons during 2024. In other recent AFC news, the company opened a Mexico central facility in Monterrey this past February.

AFC’s footprint spans over 100 locations in eight countries. The company was No. 7 on MDM’s 2025 Top Distributors Lists for Fasteners, and No. 29 for Industrial Supplies.
