Fastenal is set to significantly expand its U.S. Southeast logistics hub with a new distribution center that can potentially expand to nearly four times the size of its current Atlanta facility.
The industrial and construction supplies distributor announced March 13 that the company will break ground on a new regional operations and logistics center in Carrollton, GA on March 24.
Expected to open in spring 2027, it will be significantly larger than Fastenal’s current 252,000-square-foot regional DC in Atlanta, with space on site available to push that footprint to 900,000 square feet.
Fastenal’s February: Continued Sales Acceleration Tops Expectations
Winona, MN-based Fastenal said the new hub will feature a range of next-generation warehouse technologies — including improved processing software to enhanced material handling equipment — expected to increase storage capacity, accelerate order picking and support the company’s goals of more in-stock products and faster customer service.
“The new site gives us dramatically expanded capacity,” Fatenal Senior Regional Operations Manager Greg Campbell said in a news release. “It also offers close proximity to educational institutions, giving us a great pipeline for talent development and recruitment.”
Fastenal detailed that its Southeast operations first launched in Atlanta in 1993 with a small team that included a single truck driver and 50,000 square feet of warehouse space. The company relocated its “AHUB” operations to its current Atlanta DC in 2003.
Today, that team has more than 300 employees, which Fastenal plans to expand over the next five years with the move to the larger Carrollton facility.
“It’s an investment in the future,” added Campbell. “We’re excited to deepen our community ties by building a state-of-the-art workplace, creating new employment opportunities, and raising the bar for our capabilities and service.”
On MDM’s 2025 Top Distributors Lists, Fastenal charted at No. 1 for Fasteners, No. 2 for Safety, No. 4 for Industrial Supplies, No. 5 for Industrial MRO and No. 7 for Fluid Power. The company reported 2025 annual sales of $8.2 billion.
