Electrical and industrial supplies distributor Graybar has agreed to acquire Samson Electrical Supply — a South Plainfield, NJ-based electrical distributor serving customers across several end markets.
Announced July 17, the transaction is expected to close in early August. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1949, Samson offers electrical products, lighting solutions, power distribution equipment and maintenance, repair and operations support. Its customer base spans the commercial, industrial, residential, institutional and utility markets.
Upon completion of the deal, Samson will become a Graybar subsidiary and continue operating under its existing name with the same employees and suppliers.

“Samson Electrical Supply is a highly regarded company with a strong customer focus and deep roots in New Jersey,” Graybar Chairman, President and CEO Kathleen Mazzarella said in the announcement. “This acquisition expands Graybar’s presence in the region and enhances our ability to serve customers.”
Samson President Michael Cohen said joining Graybar will allow the company to retain the values that have defined it for generations while gaining access to additional resources, capabilities and growth opportunities.
The deal represents Graybar’s third acquisition announced during 2026.
In May, the St. Louis-based distributor agreed to acquire American Electric Supply — a Southern California electrical distributor founded in 1972. That transaction expanded Graybar’s presence in the region and added locations serving commercial and industrial customers.
Graybar also completed its acquisition of Broken Arrow Electric Supply in March, adding seven Oklahoma locations.

The latest expansion follows a strong start to the year for Graybar. The employee-owned company posted first-quarter sales of $3.3 billion, a 12.4% year-over-year increase and its second-highest quarterly sales total. Net profit jumped 40.6% to a company-record $142 million.
Graybar operates a network of more than 355 distribution facilities across North America and supplies electrical, industrial, automation and connectivity products alongside supply chain management and logistics services.
