Motion to Grow Automation Unit, Acquire Allied Circuits in Buffalo

Allied designs, makes and services industrial control panels, electro-mechanical assemblies, robotic automation and integrated solutions.

Motion is adding another piece to its growing automation capabilities.

The MRO parts distributor and industrial technology solutions announced May 15 that the company has inked a deal to acquire Allied Circuits — an electrical and automation company based in Buffalo, NY. It will join the Motion Automation Intelligence business unit (Motion Ai).

Terms were disclosed for the transaction, which is expected to closer later in May.

Allied Circuits designs, manufacturers and services industrial control panels, electro-mechanical assemblies, robotic automation and integrated solutions. The firm serves customers in the Western and Upstate New York markets and into Ontario, Canada.

In a news release, Motion said Allied Circuits will add a highly-skilled staff, ATEX certification capabilities and over 20,000 square feet of production space to Motion Ai’s current presence in the area.

Founded in 1987, Allied Circuits serves end markets that include aerospace, automotive, filtration, fluid systems & plumbing, food & beverage, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, process industries, semiconductor and water & wastewater treatment.

“Our customers are growing, and we’re committed to growing with them,” said Motion President James How, who was named to the position on April 1. “By combining our engineering teams, we can leverage highly experienced technical resources needed to design, program and support increasing automation needs within the region. This strategic acquisition will create new opportunities for our customers, teammates and supplier partners.”

Motion Automation Intelligence solution technologies include robotics, motion control, machine vision, digital Networking/IIoT, industrial framing, pneumatics and custom mechatronic systems.

“It’s a great match — including the business culture and core values — and we’re very excited about our customers’ expanded access to even more products and services,” Allied Circuits Partner Chris Scinta added. “Motion is an industry leader, and we are pleased to integrate employee talents and contribute to the company’s growth.”

It marks Motion’s second acquisition of the year, following its February purchase of Perfetto Manufacturing and SER Hydraulics — both based in Sudbury, Ontario.

In late November 2023, Motion appointed Mike Esposito to lead the company’s Automation Intelligence unit. He previously served as Director of its Engineered Assembly Solutions division, having joined Motion as part of its January 2022 acquisition of Kaman Distribution Group.
