France-based electrical supplies distributor Sonepar agreed to acquire JAV. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Based in Joinville, Brazil, JAV is a supplier of industrial automation solutions. The company provides services in automation, testing and measurement, tools, electrical materials, robotics and the assembly of electrical panels. JAV is an authorized distributor of Rockwell Automation in Santa Catarina and across Brazil’s North and Northeast regions. The company also distributes National Instruments products nationwide. JAV maintains operations throughout Brazil, including in Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, Bahia, Pará, Maranhão and Amazonas, among other regions.

Sonepar said the acquisition marks a milestone in the company’s South American growth strategy, reinforcing its market presence and expanding its industrial automation capabilities.

The transaction has been signed and is currently awaiting approval from the Brazilian antitrust authority. Until regulatory clearance is granted, JAV will continue to operate as an independent entity. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of July.

“We look forward to welcoming JAV into our organization and are confident that this step will strengthen Sonepar’s position and enhance our offering across the Brazilian market,” Sonepar South America President Yannick Laporte said in a June 25 news release.
