Packer Fastener Moves HQ to Larger Green Bay Facility

The fast-growing distributor in the U.S. upper midwest said the 100,000-square-foot facility will enable it to better serve customers.

Spurred by its rapid growth, Packer Fastener has moved its headquarters and central distribution center to a much larger facility in the distributor’s hometown of Green Bay, WI.

The company’s headquarters and its iconic 10-foot tall, 3.5-ton hex nut — once the world’s largest — have moved 1.5 miles from 728 Lombardi Avenue to a 100,000-plus-square-foot facility at 500 Pilgrim Way in Ashwaubenon, WI.

The distributor of industrial nuts and bolts said the relocation was a result of unprecedented growth and the need for updated facilities and space that will enable it to better serve customers.

“This move is big for us and for our customers,” said Terry Albrecht, founder and CEO of PFS Companies. “Outgrowing our Lombardi home is a reflection of our deep customer loyalty, and a move this big demonstrates our continued commitment to provide them with the best possible customer experience.”

The new location was formerly occupied by commercial interior and office furniture distributor VerHalen Inc., and now houses Packer Fastener alongside its sister companies Packer Freight and Albolt Manufacturing — which together comprise the PFS family of brands.

PFS will complete the headquarters relocation on March 15, at which point the Lombardi location will briefly close before reopening on March 18 to welcome contractors and the public.

In addition to Green Bay, Packer Fastener has locations in nine other cities in the U.S. upper midwest, including seven in Wisconsin. The newest branch expansion was in La Crosse, WI in August 2023.

“We’re only able to grow as fast as our ability to recruit good people, and luckily, we’ve been very successful in both recruiting and growth,” Albrecht said in announcing the La Crosse opening.

In 2022, Packer Fastener made the Inc. 5000 list in recognition of its then three-year revenue growth of 206.2%. In 2023, sibling company Packer Freight also made the list, coming in at number 1,572 on the list and ranking as the 14th fastest-growing company in Wisconsin.

Albrecht was a guest on the MDM Podcast in February 2023 — a discussion that focused on how Packer Fastener’s culture-based hiring has driven its success since the company began operating in 1998.

Packer Fastener sales staff serve OEMs, commercial construction, fabricators, machine shops and maintenance/repair operations. Its products range from threaded fasteners, struts and abrasives to industrial safety materials, PPE and welding supplies. In addition to threaded fasteners and industrial supplies, Packer Fastener offers vendor managed inventory, vending and kitting services.
