Industrial and mechanical equipment distributor Cummins-Wagner Co. has acquired Syracuse Thermal Products Inc., expanding its HVAC and plumbing presence in Central New York.

Annapolis Junction, MD-based Cummins-Wagner announced Sept. 16 that it had finalized the acquisition. Syracuse Thermal is headquartered in East Syracuse, NY, and operates as a manufacturer’s representative and distributor specializing in hydronic heating, boilers and water heating, plumbing and steam products for residential, commercial and industrial markets.

Founded in 1963, Syracuse Thermal serves customers across Central New York. Its offerings include commercial HVAC equipment, pumps, heat exchangers, hydronic specialties, steam products and fluid-handling equipment, along with startup, commissioning, training and technical support services.

Cummins-Wagner CEO Doug Ardinger said the combination gives the companies greater scale and resources to expand their engineered sales and service capabilities in commercial and residential HVAC and plumbing markets.

“The combination of Cummins-Wagner and Syracuse Thermal creates a Company with greater scale and resources to continue and expand our ability to provide experienced engineered sales and service in the commercial & residential HVAC and plumbing markets,” Ardinger said.

Syracuse Thermal President Jack Koenig said joining Cummins-Wagner will provide additional resources to support the company’s future growth.

Syracuse Thermal employees will also become participants in Cummins-Wagner’s employee stock ownership plan. Cummins-Wagner is 100% employee-owned.

Founded in 1960, Cummins-Wagner distributes water and wastewater equipment, industrial process equipment, commercial HVAC and plumbing equipment. The company also provides system design, assembly, aftermarket service and repair. Its operations span the Mid-Atlantic and New England, with locations in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, New York and Massachusetts.

The acquisition continues Cummins-Wagner’s strategy of expanding through market penetration and acquisitions. Its previous recent deals have included New York-based Siewert Equipment and New England water and wastewater equipment distributor F.R. Mahony & Associates.
