Foodservice, packaging supplies, industrial products and janitorial supplies distributor Imperial Dade acquired Athens Janitor Supply Co and Chittom Industries.
Terms were not disclosed, but the transaction marks Imperial Dade’s 97th acquisition under the leadership of Robert and Jason Tillis.

Athens, GA-based AJS was acquired by Jim Chittom Sr. in 1979. Originally, the company focused on selling commercial cleaning supplies such as mops, buckets and other cleaning products. Today, AJS provides a wide range of janitorial supplies, equipment and services to customers throughout Georgia, with locations in Athens, Rome and Augusta.
“The team and I are incredibly excited to work with Jim Sr., John, Jim Jr., and the rest of the AJS team,” Imperial Dade Chairman Robert Tillis said in a Feb. 24 news release. “They have shown exceptional performance in their markets and are poised for further growth in a region that remains a very high priority for us.”

Imperial Dade’s most recent previous acquisition was of Landover, MD-based S. Freedman & Sons, completed on Jan. 14.
Imperial Dade was No. 2 on MDM’s Top Distributors List for JanSan, Packaging & Disposables.
